Site Selection Assistance

If you are looking to locate or expand your business in Fairfield, Economic Development staff will assist you throughout the site selection and entitlement processes as well as during ongoing operations to address specific needs that arise. Economic Development staff will assist you in obtaining the necessary permits and link you with hiring and training assistance resources. We will also serve as an advocate for your project and ensure that your City permit approvals are handled efficiently and in a timely manner.  Once your business has located in Fairfield, Economic Development will keep in contact with you through the City’s Business Retention Program, to determine if further assistance is needed.(back to top)

Streamlined Permit Processing

The City of Fairfield has adopted a citywide Streamlined Permit Process, which allows for reduced development review and processing times. Staff can issue many permits administratively and those that have to be reviewed by the Planning Commission will be done in an eight to ten week time period. These streamlined procedures apply to all development citywide, so whether you are a small business or large corporation, you will benefit from the streamlined permit processing. (back to top)

Loan Program Financing

The City of Fairfield Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) is designed to assist small businesses in acquiring the necessary capital to either start-up, expand or continue operating their company within Fairfield.  Funded by Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), the program is targeted towards small businesses with the potential of long-term job creation.  The goal of the RLF is to create new jobs and grow Fairfield’s economic base. The City of Fairfield has developed the Fairfield Guide to Business Financing to assist businesses with information on local, state and federal loan programs and other loan sources available to business.  (back to top)

 

Incentives

The City of Fairfield provides financial incentives to businesses moving to Fairfield or expanding an existing Fairfield business on a case-by-case basis. The level and scope of financial assistance is determined by the number and quality of jobs and capital investment that a new or expanding company may bring to Fairfield, as well as other factors. 

Assistance can include:

  • Land write-downs
  • Direct loans
  • Financing or deferral of development impact fees

The City can also serve as a conduit for either tax-exempt or taxable industrial bond financing, through California Communities or the Fairfield Industrial Development Authority.  The City has a well-established track record in this area.  (back to top)
