Workforce Investment Board receives $135K for manufacturing workforce development

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger awarded the Workforce Investment Board of Solano County (WIB) a $135,475 grant to create a Solano County manufacturers workforce task force.

The Taskforce will draw together manufacturers, educators, trainers, workforce professionals, and others to actively address the employment and training needs of manufacturers in the County. Read more…

Marketing contract renewed

Development applications received in the Planning Division

  • Conceptual Review of a 12,800 s.f. office and vehicle maintenance building for a truck leasing facility located at 200 Pennsylvania Avenue.
  • Conceptual Review of a 38,773 s.f. multi-tenant light industrial building on a 3.27-acre site located at 2699 Maxwell Way.
  • Conceptual Review of a 14,490 s.f. retail center located at 1495 Holiday Lane.  The existing 5,000-square foot metal building would be demolished.
  • Conceptual Review of a 4,000 s.f. convenience store, 6-pump fuel station, and car wash to be located on a portion of the northwest corner of Walters Road and East Tabor Ave.
  • Conceptual Review of a 20,390 s.f. Staples retail store and a second 4,660-square foot retail pad building to be located at 1200 Oliver Road (formerly Ford of Fairfield).
  • Minor Development Review of a 22,168 s.f. expansion of an existing 147,214-square foot Costco warehouse at 5101 Business Center Drive.

Arrowpoint Corporation has expanded with a new office location in the Green Valley Executive Center in Cordelia.  Arrowpoint is a veteran-owned corporation focused on the strategic planning, business development, management consultation and analysis needs of its clients. This new office had its grand opening on Thursday, January 11 and will house Arrowpoint’s Information Technology development teams and industrial engineers in support of ongoing and new work with the Navy and other federal agencies.  West Region Vice President Bill Zanow will also have onsite offices and expects continued rapid growth as a result of Arrowpoint's broadening efforts in the Western United States.  To find out more about Arrowpoint's West Region operations, contact Zanow at bill_zanow@arrowpoint.net or visit their website at  www.arrowpoint.org.

Division 6 Construction Inc., founded by Steve Quigley and Michael Rice, has set up shop at 5199 Fulton Road in Cordelia.  Division 6 Construction is a specialty framing contractor.  The firm’s initial target market includes in-fill housing projects, light commercial and small to medium sized multi-family projects.  Division 6 specifies many products within their scope of work that are of a higher quality standard in an effort to differentiate themselves from other contractors performing similar scopes of work.  For more information, contact Division 6 at 707-864-3140.

80-to-80 Corridor Plan

The City of Fairfield is selecting a consulting firm to prepare a market analysis and planning implementation study to assist in the revitalization and redevelopment of what is commonly referred to as the 80-to-80 Corridor.  Read more>

NTSBA has new leadership

Catherine Salmon has joined the North Texas Street Business Association as its new executive director.  Salmon has worked for small businesses in downtown Vacaville, and said she is excited about working with the North Texas Street businesses.
