The City of Fairfield provides domestic water service within the city limits and the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District provides sewer service. Pacific Gas and Electric provides electrical and natural gas service in the city and AT&T provides telephone service. Comcast is the local cable provider.
Sewer
Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District (FSSD) provides sewer service to Fairfield businesses. The FSSD wastewater treatment facility was constructed in 1974 with significant expansions occurring in 1982, 1987 and 1990 to keep pace with the population growth, economic expansion of the region and technological advancements. Another expansion is currently underway.
The plant incorporates advanced tertiary treatment technology to process variable, high-strength wastes - producing high-quality effluent that meets stringent regulatory requirements made necessary due to the District's proximity to the environmentally-sensitive Suisun Marsh.
Connection fees and service charges are based on the type, strength, and amount of effluent and are calculated on a case-by-case basis on a per hundred cubic feet of effluent rate. For existing facilities, the amount of effluent, which was discharged by the previous user, will be credited against any new connection fees.

Water
Water service is provided by the City of Fairfield through Fairfield Municipal Utilities (FMU). The City has in place sufficient capacity of water to support the build-out of the General Plan. The quality and available capacity of water has attracted companies such as Anheuser-Busch, NRE Bento and CalBee America to Fairfield.
Connection fees and service charges are based upon the water connection and water meter size required by the user. Service charges are based upon water usage, plus a flat rate daily service charge that is based on the size of connection. Information on the type of meter required and connection fees for new service can be obtained from the Building Division at (707) 428-7451 or by visiting the Finance Department on the first floor of City Hall or at City Hall at the Mall.
